The purpose of this research study is to determine the role of a gut hormone (acyl ghrelin) in the regulation of insulin secretion from the pancreas and glucose disposal after a meal. Participants will be asked to complete 2 testing visits at the Duke Center for Living campus, each requiring an overnight fast. Two study groups will be enrolled in this trial – healthy controls and individuals with Type 2 diabetes. However, at this time we are only enrolling Type 2 diabetes participants.
