Durham School of the Arts students study with DMPI faculty

Grace Mott and Justin Ching, students at Durham School of the Arts (DSA), are doing an independent study with DMPI faculty members Simon Gregory and Rasheed Gbadegesin. Both Grace and Justin are seniors at DSA which is across the street from DMPI.

In the inaugural year of the program the students will carry out independent study during the last period and time after the academic day has finished. The lab skills and research protocols they learn will be used to complete a thesis on their work, which will be presented to their DSA AP Biology class at the end of the school year. Grace is working with Simon Gregory carrying out genetics research in Autism research in collaboration with emeritus Professor G. Robert DeLong, while Justin is studying with Rasheed Gbadegesin researching the molecular genetics of childhood onset nephrotic syndrome.
