DMPI Director Chris Newgard, PhD received the 2014 Donald Steiner Award for Outstanding Achievement in Diabetes Research from the University of Chicago at the University’s annual Diabetes Day.
The Steiner Award was established in 2006 to honor an investigator carrying out research in the field of diabetes. The award is named for Donald F. Steiner, M.D., the A.N. Pritzker Distinguished Service Professor at The University of Chicago, a pioneering diabetes investigator and discoverer of proinsulin. This is an international award and the awardee is selected by a committee chaired by Dr. Louis H. Philipson and includes Professor Steiner.
Dr. Newgard presented his research in a talk titled “Metabolomics as a tool for defining cardiometabolic disease mechanisms.”
