We are sad to announce the passing of W. David Stedman on Dec. 23, 2020 at the age of 99 years. David and his wife Sarah (pictured) founded the Sarah W. Stedman Center for Nutritional Studies in 1988 via what was then one of the largest philanthropic gifts ever given to the Duke Medical School. The Center was renamed as the Sarah W. Stedman Nutrition and Metabolism Center in 2003. David and Sarah were constant, passionate and enthusiastic supporters of the work conducted in the Center, and always stayed informed about our activities. They were a life-long couple, and it was inspiring to be with them and feel their obvious and warm commitment to each other, and to nutrition-related research. Sarah Stedman preceded David in death on August 6, 2017, after 74 years of marriage. They will both be deeply missed, and we are eternally grateful for their support.
